Twentieth Century Scientific Discoveries Recorded 2600 Years Ago in the Bible
The Bible recorded information about the earth that were not visible to the naked eye. Prior to the invention of powerful telescopes, skydiving equipment, cylindrical test tubes and electricity the Old Testament revealed an amazing facts about our planet.
The Earth is Suspended in Space
The Bible states in Job 26:7 (NIV); “He spreads out the northern skies over empty space; he suspends the earth over nothing.”
The stunning photos taken by the Apollo 8 astronauts in late December 1968 showed the Earth as an impressive blue and white globe framed by the smooth blackness of space.
Today we have satellites orbiting the earth and several spacecraft traveling into outer space. If there were cords or a mass of matter holding the earth in place, one of the man-made machines in outer space would have detected or detached part of the earth’s support systems.
Pictures, scientific tests and common sense point to the fact that the earth free-floats in space affected only by gravity, sun and/or other plants in the solar system. Just like the Bible foretold over 3400 years old the earth is suspended in space.
Light is in Motion
The Bible states in Job 38:19-20 (NKJV); “Where is the way to the dwelling of light? And darkness, where is its place, that you may take it to its territory, that you may know the paths to its home?
Also, the Bible states in Job 38:24 (NIV); “What is the way to the place where the lightning is dispersed…”
Today the fact that light travels at an extraordinary fast speed is a scientific proven fact. But when the book of Job was recorded over 3400 years ago there was no equipment to observe and measure the movement of light.
Characteristics of the sea floor revealed in the Bible over 3000 years before technology made it possible for humans to map and take pictures of the sea floor.
How did the writer of the Bible know that there are valleys and springs at the bottom of the sea? The ocean is very deep. Almost all the ocean floor is in total darkness. Hydrostatic pressure keeps humans without the essential equipment from swimming and exploring the ocean floor.
In addition, from a boat it is impossible for humans to see the sea’s surface. During the time when the Bible was recorded, humans did not have sophisticated telescopes and sound navigation and ranging equipment.
Valleys in the Bottom of the Ocean
The Bible states in 2 Samuel 22:16 (NIV), “The valleys of the sea were exposed and the foundations of the earth laid bare at the rebuke of the Lord, at the blast of breath from his nostrils.” (NIV)
In 1953 Marie Tharp, discovered that a rift valley existed on the mid-Atlantic sea floor by using the chart of the sound of the ocean floor. Rift valleys have provided valuable information about plate tectonics and prove that the author of book of 2 Samuel had inside information on how the earth operates.
Springs of the Sea Floor
The Bible states in Job 38:16 (NIV), “Have you journeyed to the springs of the sea or walked in the recesses of the deep?”
According to the Office of Oceanic and Atmospheric Research there are hot springs at the bottom of the ocean? In 1977, scientists discovered “hydrothermal vents.” Caused by cracks filled with lava in the sea floor crust. When the cold seawater gets into these cracks and meets the very hot lava, it shoots the water up like steam into the cold water surrounding the cracks in the ocean floor.
Exploration of the ocean flood has provided humans with proof that the Bible was authored by a being that knew intricate details of the bottom of the ocean.
